The Sanctum has always been one of the most unique and impactful mechanics in Gods Unchained, a place of supreme domain worship, where mortals can gain favor with the gods and be granted gifts in the form of powerful cards.
Now, with the dawn of a new season, the gods have seen fit to refresh their blessings and change the cards available in the Sanctum.
These changes will shake up the meta and have wide-ranging impacts on competitive play:
🔹All cards in the Sanctum have been renewed
🔹Cards unseen for ages have been rotated in
🔹Costs and abilities have been changed
🔹There are less "win-more" cards included
The time has come for mortals to relearn the Sanctum and unravel its new mysteries.
The Gods' New Gifts
The old Sanctum decks have beenreplaced with new ones containing different cards:
For those unfamiliar, the Sanctum is an in-match shop where players can spend Favor to gain temporary access to cards outside their deck.
Here’s a quick refresher:
🟣 Players start each match with 0 Favor
🟣 Favor is generated by attacking the enemy god, destroying creatures, and winning combat
🟣 The amount of Favor gained increases each turn
🟣 Players can spend Favor to pull revealed Sanctum cards into their hand
🟣 These temporary cards let you access strengths beyond your deck's domains
By pulling Sanctum cards into your hand, you can adapt your strategy and access strengths your deck lacks. In the sanctum may be the card you need to change things around. This pushes matches into unforeseen territory, keeping gameplay dynamic and deep.

Answers Deck
Gleamweaver
Favor cost: 12
The void has become a more and more active play zone for GU over the last couple of years, and it’s about time a direct answer for it went into the Sanctum.
Svart Basilisk
Favor cost: 18
An old staple for a few problems.
Valka’s Discovery
Favor cost: 17
Another staple Sanctum card we like.
Nightleaf Trapper
Favor cost: 12
Weapon removal is always going to be relevant in the sanctum.
Defenders Deck
Combat Medic
Favor cost: 12
A bit of healing can make all the difference in a games outcome, and we like that this is difficult to use as a stat stick as well.
Rune of Life
Favor cost: 15
Rune of Life and Rune of Sight are the runes we think should be in the Sanctum as they doesn’t have immediate board impact and reach. The others could be very decisive, often in ways that would simply exacerbate tempo advantages.
Hoplite
Favor cost: 12
A solid defender for when you just need to buy a little time.
Atlant Phalanx
Favor cost: 22
This Sanctum rotation experiments with adding higher cost, higher impact cards back into the rotation. Now there’s some pressure to save a bit more favour and get a better card out of the Sanctum, rather than just spamming low cost cards.
Removal Deck
Ogre Archer
Favor cost: 20
Ogre Archer is a very fairly costed neutral card, and we think he’s found a good home in the sanctum.
Imperious Smite
Favor cost: 30
Some solid removal, but difficult to use when you’re ahead on board and very highly costed - Exactly what we want for the Sanctum going forward.
Onyx Nightblade
Favor cost: 12
A sanctum staple.
Swashbuckler
Favor cost: 15
This replaces the archer as the sanctum pinger.
Threats Deck
Lambasting Wand
Favor cost: 15
A solid, fair threat we think is another staple.
Enraged Ally
Favor cost: 12
A good staple that encourages wide strategies and trading.
Jailbeast
Favor cost: 13
Sanctum cards were often fire and forget threats - This gives an option for something a bit stickier.
Threats
Lupine Elemental
Favor cost: 25
This gives a high stat threat option at a decent price. It also gives some life to a card that hasn’t seen much play in recent years.
Value Deck
Ambitious Adventurer
Favor cost: 15
Another value staple.
The Trial Begins
Favor cost: 17
Probably our spiciest add, but in testing this worked out to mean that there was just one more incentive to add powerful Domain cards to your deck rather than relying on Neutrals.
Rune of Sight
Favor cost: 15
Fair value and card selection leads to skilled plays. Another card we consider a sanctum staple.
Lootable Corpse
Favor cost: 10
Slower but cheap value, which is exactly the kind of tradeoff we think suits the sanctum.
